Garmin 430/530 Conversion (Transitioning)

Converting (Transitioning) to a Garmin 430 or 530 is a great step, enabling enhanced position  awareness and navigation for the VFR pilot, and access to the thousands of GPS approaches for the IFR pilot.  Since the introduction of GPS WASS (in the US), now it is important to know the differences in capability and performance between a 430/530 without WASS and one with WASS.

The Garmin 430/530 transition can be accomplished in 4-5 hours of both ground and simulator training. Click here for further details about the CAMFLIGHT course for Garmin 430/530 training.

If you have experience using a Garmin 430/530 non WAAS and want to learn about the capabilities of a Garmin 430/530WASS including coupled approaches using a roll steering autopilot, CAMFLIGHT also offers this training, starting with the hands on docking station and PC simulator, then transitioning to the aircraft as desired by the student. Click for a useful outline of the differences between WASS and non WASS units.
